So here we are in January, on a massive comedown from Christmas and New Year, and 2015 has greeted us with damaged bank accounts, winter viruses, shit British weather and already broken resolutions. It's all quite depressing. We're here to help with a simple tip for elevating your mood: incorporate bright colours into your winter wardrobe. If the weather is shitty, then that's all the more reason to put on an outfit that makes you feel happy and bright and fun. Give your January blues the finger, and wear red and yellow and purple and orange and ALL THE COLOURS this winter.

The bigger the coat the better seems to have been the motto this season and a growing trend over the past few years. A baggy boyfriend jacket will defend you from the cold and they also come in tonnes of different colours, so you’re sure to find one to suit your personality.

Even a subtle burst of colour can completely transform an outfit from drab to fab. Add a statement necklace over a plain tee or shift dress and, if you’re feeling a little more adventurous, compliment it with a matching bold lip or nail colour. Take a practical approach to jazzing up your dull outfit with some brightly coloured winter warmers. Hats, gloves and scarves can be mixed and matched to keep you cosy plus a beanie can be the perfect solution for taking control of your bed head.

These cold winter mornings make getting up for your lectures or for your job ten times more unappealing so save time and opt for an eye catching jumper which can be thrown on top of a pair of jeans for a simple yet stylish outfit requiring zero effort.
